Author Gary Karton Appears on D.C.’s WTTG “Pay It Forward” Segment


“It’s okay to be different!” says children’s book author, Gary Karton. Gary was featured in a segment shown on Washington D.C.’s WTTG, Fox 5, “Pay It Forward.” The segment shows how “The Last Akaway” author has used his talents as a writer and speaker to encourage and support all children, especially those who may be labeled, “different.” His message is simple, instead of being discouraged by the label, learn to celebrate being “different.”

In this “Pay It Forward” segment, the viewers hear about Gary’s own childhood struggles with learning disabilities. Viewers learn that thanks to the dedication of a teacher, Gary went on to be a successful Washington Post reporter, communications director for Safe Kids Worldwide, and now, an award-winning author.
